Bwlch-y-Lladron

I have received a report [yesterday] of a Great Grey Shrike at Bwlch-y-Lladron http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X=293912&Y=203142&A=Y&Z=120 which is at the back of Hirwaun Common. To access walk thro’ the forestry from near the lay-by parking on the A4061 the walk starting from where it says  Mynydd Beili-glas on the map. Thanks to Colin Richards for the heads up. Cd only post today due to internet access problems.

I spent 4 hours around Cefn Y Gyngon, Bwlch Y Lladron, Lluest Reservoir scanning and listening at every bush but this was a needle in a haystack with bitter cold and mist. There was plenty else to keep me focused, Large flocks of chaffinch (30) meadow pipit (30) skylark (20) siskin (20) mistle thrush (15) were congregating around the NE of Lluest lake so if he is there that’s his probable target.

The bird I saw back in March 2011 was around until the end of the month. The bird I saw and photographed on the 14th last seemed quite settled in the area of burnt larches / clearfell close to the small moorland/forest gate.
