This afternoon at the top end of Clydach Vale CP, I found a recently deceased 2nd year Gannet! – Probably blown in when it was windy a couple of weeks ago. I took some record pics of it, and a nearby Mountain Bumblebee (Bombus Monticola), which was the actually the reason why I was up there. This is the first time I’ve seen a Gannet in the Rhondda!

I wouldn’t be surprised if it is the only time a gannet has ever been seen in the Rhondda! But I’ll wait for someone to come along and tell me I’m wrong.
I see that one of the Alderney gannets has been tracked flying 1700 miles to Scandanavia and back on a fishing trip.
