Finally the house martins have returned, counted 7 today. Also 1 pair of swift, with another pair further down valley in Merthyr Vale. Talking of swifts, did my first survey yesterday evening around Victoria Park, Cardiff – alas no swifts in my two squares, but I did find a nest in an adjacent square, so not a total blank.
Interesting – I’ve also got a square in Victoria Park. It’s the north-east part of the park and the Pencisely area. I wonder where your nest was?
Hi Dylan, it’s 83 Windway Road, saw a swift entering, looks like there’s also a House Martin nest too, not sure if that’s active too, but there’s up to four swifts and house martins over the Fairwater Cons Club in the evenings
Thanks Chris – I’ll have a look! Yes, there are often swifts around the Con Club and along the top end of Pencisely Road. But haven’t been able to track any nests down as yet.
