Forest Farm – Cardiff
A Bittern was seen from hide2 (the one without a door) at Forest Farm this afternoon. It flew in at 15:20 and stayed in view for a couple of minutes before disappearing into the reeds. It wasn`t seen again when I left at 16:15. Also snipe, jay, kingfisher, water rail, moorhen and reed bunting(and a fox). In the trees by the path leading to the hide were 2 goldcrests and just by the entrance gate to the hide was a chiffchaff.

Brent Goose on the beach heading towards Penarth. No sign of Black Redstart.
RGW – Cardiff
2 short-eared owls at RGW this afternoon
Out of County – Goldcliffe
The Pectoral Sandpiper showed well but always distant while I was there from the new viewing platform at Goldcliffe scrapes Newport. Also 5 Ruff, 1 Spotted Redshank and 1 Greenshank from the 3rd Hide
Rudry Common
Cuckoo seen twice between 1000 – 1100 hours. Also singing and displaying tree pipits and skylarks and 1 wheatear at the summit. Also garden warbler, common whitethroat, g-s woodpecker, stonechat
Lamby Lake – Cardiff
Male goosander on the lake was a site first for me today.
Bute Park – Cardiff
7 Goosander (2m) the highlight of a cold walk around Bute Park this PM. Also 2 Teal(1m) 2 Mistle Thrush and 1 Kingfisher. 1 GS Woodpecker heard.
Helipad – Cardiff
Bonaparte`s Gull showed well for about 5 mins on the west side of the small inlet just before the helipad.

Bute Park – Cardiff
c 200 redwings in the paddock area by the riding school. Couldn`t find any fieldfares in amongst them. 2 mistle thrush near the ambulance station, goosander on the taff and kingfisher on the canal feeder between the taff and the canal.

Bittern showed briefly this afternoon at Hide 1 (With A Door)at 1445. No further sign by 1615 when I left

Great Northern Diver still showing well at the north end of the reservoir this afternoon
Forest Farm – Cardiff
3(2m & 1f) Bullfinch from hide without a door. Also good views of water rail, moorhen wren and robin. 7-8 snipe in far left corner and kingfisher showed twice. Also plenty of activity at new hide by wardens centre.
Wern Ddu – Caerphilly
3 crossbill seen today from the path from Wern Ddu where it crosses Cefn Carnau Rd
