Barry Docks & Cosmeston

Black-throated diver still at Barry Dock around 15.45. Favouring the east side of the dock at that time and viewed from Barry Waterfront. Also an adult Mediterranean Gull, and unusual for this site, a Little Grebe.

At Cosmeston late afternoon on the west lake, the Lesser Scaup was with the Tufted flock and there were 27 Magpies in a single group on the west bank. Also 17 Pochard and at least 2 Gadwall.

 

North Glamorgan ponds

This morning:

Rhaslas – 3 Goldeneye, 21 Wigeon, 8 Tufted, a Cormorant and a singing Skylark

Butetown – 2 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Goosander, 2 Tufted, 6 Coot, 5 Moorhen and a Mute Swan

Ffosyfran/Isaac Morgan – 3 Teal, 4 Coot, 6 Mallard and a Kestrel

The Great Northern Diver was at the top end of Llwyn On reservoir late yesterday morning.

 

 

Cosmeston

17 Gadwall and a single drake Shoveler on the West Lake earlier this morning. Lots of Redwing and Fieldfare, and a pair of Mistle Thrush, in the big field +/- 50m north of the bridge.  Male Bullfinch near the car park entrance and a Kingfisher at the western end of the East Lake.

Sully Beach, Cosmeston, Llwyn On & Jepsons, Rhaslas & other ponds

Swanbridge/Sully Beach/Bendricks early morning – 6 Curlew, 30 Oystercatcher and a single Turnstone

Cosmeston early morning – Drake Gadwall (East Lake), Drake Teal (West Lake), Cetti’s Warbler in the West Lake reeds and a Common Gull on the posts

Llwyn On – Great Northern Diver viewed around 1pm from the car park on the west side roughly half way up the reservoir

Jepsons Pond – 3 Goosander on the pond and a Red Kite over.

Rhaslas Pond – 2 Goosander plus Wigeon and a Cormorant

Pond next to derelict Ffosyfran training centre – 4 Teal

Incline Top pond late afternoon – 7 Goosander

Isaac Morgan Pond and Cosmeston

Pair of Goosander on Isaac Morgan pond mid morning, and a hunting Kestrel near the entrance to the derelict Ffos-y-fran training centre.

Late this afternoon at Cosmeston singles of Barnacle goose, drake Pochard and drake Shoveler all at the west end of East Lake, and on the West Lake 3 Gadwall.
