Two lesser whitethroats singing and showing well, 11am.
1 female wheatear, 3.15pm.
One black-tailed godwit with the redshanks and curlews, 2pm.
At least 6 turnstone and 3 redshank this afternoon.
Firecrest showing well in the riverside bushes south of the Millennium Footbridge at 12.30. It was initially in the bushes close to where the railings start (coming from the south). It then flew a few yards south to the tree where the path forks.
A female blackcap at the garden feeder this afternoon, chasing away the goldfinches to get at the sunflower hearts.
About 28 redwings feeding on the playing field at lunchtime today – a good count for the park.
The highlight was a green sandpiper by the river at the far end of the field (when disturbed, it flew from the Ely side to the Fairwater side and back). Also two if not three dippers (two chasing each other in flight), grey wagtail and grey heron.
Although this historic ditch along Leckwith Road, Cardiff, is very over-grown, it was good to see four moorhens tonight, by the athletics stadium.
11.50am. A wryneck was in bushes on the south-facing seaward side of Trwyn y Witch (SS886726). Presumably the same bird seen recently at nearby Dunraven.
Singing whitethroats, blackcaps and chiffchaffs. A kingfisher up and down the river.
At lunchtime today, a short-eared owl mobbed by a carrion crow at Lamby Way landfill site. About 60 lapwings flew along the foreshore towards Cardiff. A hunting kestrel at Parc Tredelerch.
