Radyr Floodplain- 1 Whinchat was the highlight this morning. Also 1 Stonechat, 1 Tree Pipit and single Swift over.

Forest Farm- 1 Sedge Warbler from hide (first for me here for a few years), plus 3+ Buzzard, Peregrine and Sparrowhawk overhead.

Perhaps up to 7 Willow Warblers present today. Also 2 Sand Martin, 5 Chiffchaff and 1 Goosander.

Perhaps of interest to Cardiff listers, the 3 Stock Doves seem to be wintering at Forest Farm, all being present today and yesterday.

3 Stock Doves were on top of the pine trees at the rugby club near Forest Farm this evening. Never seen this species here before and so it was a very welcome sight.

No sign of Glaucous Gull this evening but 1 Yellow Legged Gull present. Bittern was seen by another birder flying to the island to roost at 16:30 (but I was looking the wrong way at the time!) Also 8 Scaup and Long-tailed Duck near the old ice rink.

Some locally good birds from the hides today. The Bittern was seen briefly by one of the rangers from the second hide, but the bird was absent by the time I got there. 1 Little Egret and 2 female Teal also present, two species that haven’t been seen here for a few years. 11 Snipe is the highest count this winter so far, and 1 Water Rail (heard), 1 Reed Bunting and the 1 Kingfisher were also there.

Siberian Chiffchaff still present this evening, flying about in the trees and shrubs on the left from the ‘Snipe Hide’. 1 Common Chiffchaff was briefly present with it on one occasion. Also 1 Snipe.

1 Chiffchaff from the snipe hide this afternoon, although no Snipe or Water Rail present. Also 1 female Blackcap in my garden in Whitchurch  on the 15th.

Red Kite flew over late morning, a first for the area. Also 50+ Meadow Pipits and 2 Stonechat.

2 Spotted Flycatcher present today and 1 yesterday. Pied Flycatcher briefly at Forest Farm yesterday by the car park near the Wardens center.

5+ Tree Pipits and a Garden Warbler among the regular migrants late morning. Also 2 Swift.

1 Whinchat present briefly late morning. Also 4 flyover Ravens and a flock of about 10 Swift.
