2 Wheatear (m+f) on the rocks at the southern end of the barrage.
1 Common Sandpiper at Ely river-mouth.
In Grangemoor Park, at least 1 Lsr Whitethroat called briefly by the north-west entrance.
2 Common Whitethroat still present and 1 m. Bullfinch.
Ely River/Grangemoor Park
2 Common Whitethroats, one in noisy song flight, and 1 Lsr Whitethroat, along the river by Grangemoor Park; and a second Lsr Whitethroat back by the IKEA round-about and adjacent rough ground along the old railway track.

3 pairs of Sand Martin entering nest holes in the 2 docks next to The Mount Stuart by Techniquest. Along the short stretch of Ely River at the rear of Dunleavy Drive: Brimstone, Small Tortoiseshell, Peacock, Orange Tip, Speckled Wood, Green-veined White.

In CBWR 22 GCG and 12 Tufted Duck from the boardwalk.At least 3 Sedge Warblers present and 2 Reed Warblers seen by Dean T.

2 Sedge Warblers back on CBWR this morning. The Cetti’s in the small reedbed still showing exceptionally well, with red over yellow and red over white rings (thanks to Peter H and his camera). At least 1 Wheatear, poss 2, was on the barrage rocks with 1 or 2 White Wagtails among the Pied.

50+ Swallows over the bay this morning. A Cetti’s still showing well every day on the brambles in the small reed bed in front of the entrance to St.David’s Hotel.

Several Willow Warblers and Blackcaps finally back in and around Hamadryad Park.In CBWR a Cetti’s has been showing quite well for the last week or so in the small reedbed in front of St.David’s Hotel.

1 Wheatear showed briefly on the barrage rocks north of the sails this morning.6 or 7 Sand Martins were flying over both locks beside and in front of the Dr Who Experience.20 GCG were in CBWR and another 10 were at Prospect Place. A Speckled Wood was in Roath Lock.

2 Skylarks singing on the hill and 1 showing well on the ground in the short grass.
Cardiff Barrage
The Black Redstart showed very briefly at 11.15am appearing to come from inside the outer harbour sea-wall but disappeared almost immediately.

Black Redstart and Little Gull still present this morning.
In CBWR a Song Thrush by the boardwalk giving a fair imitation of Bearded Tit. A Water Rail and Stonechat(f) showed well.
2 Gooseander (2f) off Taff Embankment.

The fem (?)/imm.Black Redstart showed well by the walk-way in the outer harbour (10.35-11.10am).This greyish bird with no trace of a white wing-bar was seen singing earlier this morning by Peter Howlet.
The 1st.yr Little Gull was also showing well close to the barrage near the first viewing platform south of ‘the sails’ (11.30-12.00pm).

Mobile fem.Black Redstart showed briefly again this morning coming from inside the sea-wall of the outer harbour,catching flies on the rocks on both sides of the walk-way and the cliff face directly above (11.20-11.30am).
Fox in Hamadryad Park (9.20am) and 16 Magpies on the roof of Cardiff Yacht Club.

Bearded Tit calling in CBWR at 10.45am and 2 showed very briefly at 11.00am flying into the reeds opposite the dipping pond (with Steve Strutt).
Fem Black Redstart catching flies on the sea-facing rocks in the outer harbour at 12.40-12.55pm and on the adjacent cliff face; last seen perched on the green railings at the top of the cliff.

At least 6+ Hawfinch showed well in the trees opposite the drive-way of the big house with the iron gates and security camera (Ton-y-Bwlch House). Found by Steve Hinton and passed on to Graham Powell.

2 Hawfinch in tree-tops just across the road from the white house at around 9am. 2 groups of about 4 and 6 flew over later but were lost to view.

Lsr Scaup still present this morning with c.195 Tufted Ducks.
The BNG was just down river from the fly-over near the west bank.

The elusive Black Redstart (fem/imm) showed once briefly on the roof tops at the beginning of John Batchelor Way at 8.20am and once again at 10.35am.The drake Lsr Scaup was on CBWR among c.170 Tufted Ducks and the BNG was down river from the fly-over near to the west bank.

Yesterday the fem/imm Black Redstart showed once on the roof top at the beginning of John Batchelor Way and twice more very briefly in Plas Taliesin on the roof top and on the shore line.
A Chiffchaff was calling by the Penarth Osystercatcher. A party of 4 Bullfinch (3m,1f) were near the NE entrance of Grangemoor Park. Today no sign of the BR. 2 Blackcap (m+f) were in trees near the corner of JB Way. Yesterday and today the Lsr Scaup was on CBWR with c.140 Tufted Duck and the BNG was under the fly-over.
