Single male Black Redstart still in Penarth marina most mornings, but seems to disappear after 08:00. Chiffchaff showing well in CBWR by the boardwalk, occasionally calling. 2 Water Rails also showing well in Hamadryad pond.

At a wild guessimate, c.4,500 Starlings went up in CBWR at about 07:00. Also there were Rn Duck, Lsr Scaup, m.Shoveler, Pochard, Kingfisher. By the barrage, a Goldeneye and a Curlew, a Perregrine was over Penarth Head. The hybrid Tufted Duck, recalling Lsr Scaup, was by Hamadryad Park with a m. Kingfisher in the pond.

3 Wheatear on the barrage this morning and a GBB Gull on the water just off the rocks. Yesterday 3 Stonechat were on the reserve.On Wednesday thousands of Swallows streamed across the bay heading east.

Little Egret present again at lunchtime.c.800/1000 Starlings went up 6.45/7.00am. Reed, Sedge and Cettis showing well. Sprawk f/o. Water Rail squealing. 1 White Wag on Plas Taliesin.

Lttle Egret on the island pontoon, 7 Little Grebes with at least one chick being fed by an adult, 2 Kingfishers.

2 Common Sandpipers on Plas Taliesin and in CBWR a m.Sprawk perched on the bare tree by the boardwalk.

2 ad Med Gulls with partial hoods on the playing fields this pm and a m.Kingfisher at the “pond”. 5 Gooseander fems above Blackweir.Last Friday, a large Black Hen in the paddock by Blackweir.

Ring Ouzel (ad.m) near second stream crossing up from the stile, Whinchat (2) in same place, Red Kite (3), Lsr Redpoll, Linnet, Redstart (2 imm), Stonechat, Grey Wagtail, TreePipit, Skylark, Swift.

A familly of 4 Whinchat along the dry stone wall going north 300m from stile yesterday.

A fem Redstart and a male Kingfisher were in the pond this am.
