Five Red kites circling at top of Gilfach Goch valley along with 2 Buzzards. One pair of ravens also circling at head of valley near wind farm. Plenty of Chiffchaffs calling as well.

First two Whitethroats of year as well as confiding Common Sandpiper on bank next to me. Chiffchaff, Cetti’s warbler 4,Sandmartin, Stonechat, Dunnock, Tufted duck 1pr.

Several willow warbler, blackcaps and chiffchaff were singing today. Great spotted woodpecker and green woodpecker were quite vocal around paddocks and dipping pond area. Two red kites were over UHW Heath at 10.00 AM. Near the Taff there were several brimstone and peacock butterflies as spring harbingers.

Flock of 15+ Siskin on Alder- my first sighting here. Chiffchaff 2, LT Tits 15+ Bullfinch pair, Great Spotted Woodpecker Pair, Chaffinch 5, Male Blackbirds fighting in leaf litter, Goldcrest, Wren, Great and Blue Tit , Jay, Magpies and Crows and 1 Buzzard perched on tree. Moorhen and Mallard pairs on pond.

In the last few weeks I have seen greenfinch and chaffinch in the garden for the first time in four years which is an encouraging sign. In Howardian nature reserve this morning, chiff chaff, willow warbler, garden warbler and blackcap.

Kingfisher and heron over garden this morning was a nice bonus.

Red kite over yesterday PM being mobbed by corvids and kingfisher Sainsbury feeder stream Cochester avenue.

Two kingfishers flew out of the stream next to Wilko’s Colchester Ave and flew south east towards the coast. Two grey wagtails followed and there was a nice mixed flock of Great, Coal, Blue and Long Tailed tits with three or four Chiffchaffs.

I saw another kingfisher about 10.00Pm but that was after the rugby.
