and a Treecreeper exploring a telegraph pole.

17 of us were well wrapped -up for the GBC monthly public birdwalk this morning! A biting wind and choppy waves made us work hard for the 39 species we found. Highlights were -4 Sandmartin and 14 Lapwing over the pool, a Kittiwake making a brief visit, a small flock of Golden Plover, 3 very vocal Greenfinch, and a Sparrowhawk over the dunes.

Kenfig NNR GBC monthly walk
On an overcast morning with a forecast of heavy rain, 26 participants came on the GBC monthly pubic walk today, – with a special welcome to some new faces.
Fortunately it remained mainly dry, and 49 (!) species were seen/heard, the highlights being- Bittern ,Slavonian Grebe,Goosander, Chiffchaff, 12 Reed Bunting,Goldeneye, Kingfisher, a very close Sparrowhawk perched on a post for several minutes, and the large number of wildfowl on the pool.

Eleven folk took part in our birdwalk this morning in damp,dull ,breezy weather. Highlights were 2 Slavonian Grebe and 2 Waterail, both showing well close to the hide.

Ten hardy souls took part on the GBC monthly Saturday morning bird walk, very blustery with occasional squally showers. We were very pleased to log 36 species. Highlights included two Ringed Plover, and a Med Gull (thanks to Tom) a Great Spotted Woodpecker in flight, and a small flock of Golden Plover between the pool and the Centre.

Yesterday, after searching the fields and shore, 8 Whimbrel over the centre, flying towards the golf course. No sign of purple heron. Also, stonechat, linnet, whitethroat, lapwing, ,gray heron , pair of gadwall on a flooded slack, , 4 coot chicks, great crested grebe, wheatear.
