2 Redwings flew in to roost at Singleton Park this evening – first I’ve seen this year.

Two Wheatears were on and around the 7th green at Blackpill Golf Course at 5.30 p.m.

Caswell Bay – Buzzard being mobbed, several Mediterranean Gulls coming to bread with B.-H. Gulls, Wheatear and juvenile Stonechat came down on rocks; 1 Silver-washed Fritillary in Bishop’s Wood.
Blackpill – 2 Wheatears on beach in evening; 1 each of Brimstone and Painted Lady on Buddleia.

A Peregrine flew over Blackpill Beach at 8 p.m., heading towards the city centre.

Around 100 Whimbrels in two flocks between Blackpill and West Cross this evening (some can be seen in the video above). 1 Swift flew in off the sea.

2 Swifts over West Cross this evening, and another over Singleton Park at dusk. Also at Singleton, 1 Ring-necked Parakeet and 2 Tawny Owls seen and another heard hooting.

Tawny Owls have bred in the park for (at least) the second successive year: heard and saw an adult and youngster as I was walking home this evening.

A female Goosander was on the River Taff opposite the Millennium Stadium on Monday evening about 6.30.

At dusk today, 20-30+ Pied Wagtails gathering in Oystermouth car park, before going to roost in evergreen bush opposite the Co-op.

There was a female Stonechat and 1 Dartford Warbler on the path between Brandy Cove and Pwll Du Bay this afternoon.

Tawny Owl seen and heard hooting at dusk, and a few Redwings flying around. Owl’s hooting was a feeble, wheezy attempt, as if it had a sore throat.

There was a single Wheatear in the dunes along Swansea Beach opposite St. Helen’s this evening – the first I’ve seen along here this Autumn.
Fall Bay, Gower
P.M. – 4 Red Kites, 2 Choughs, 1 Wheatear, 1 Kestrel, family party of 4-5 Stonechats, Ravens, Meadow Pipits, Linnets; 1 Wall Brown, 2 Painted Ladies (1st I’ve seen this year). Still large numbers of House Martins at their colonies in Rhossili.
