Rusty red tailed, grey, robin-like bird fliting from piles of rubble, brash and wood. Not showing any white patches. Vibrating tail on landing. Seen on Rhiwbina Farm, Rhiwbina Hill ST145829. If heading north, look over road side field gate on left on to farm material piles. A right of  way goes through the field gate SW then W to Tongwynlias. Seen on 17 April, 2017 at 11.35am.

This morning (9am), clear views of Great Grey Shrike seen taking small bird, much to agitation of other birds, at Fforest Fawr, Tongwynlais. 100 yards on right (NE) of track from Car Park entrance. These woods are full of surprises!

Redpoll showing well on feeders around Education Centre. Highest count last week 5. This morning 2 on bird table on eastern side on Centre. Birds such as long tailed tits, siskin, great spotted woodpecker and Reed Bunting still showing well. Ranger still feeding each day. Check out car park boulders as well

Also 5pm last night, Peregrine flying low over car park on summit heading west

Red Kite flying low over north western end of Parc on Thurs 10th mid afternoon. Great place to look for raptors on skyline form valley floor. Not sure weather Goshawks will be around this year after mass felling of larch plantation where they used to nest!

8 Goosander at 8.45am. 3 males, 5 ‘females’ (brown heads). Great close up views. There most mornings.

Good views of 6 + Reed Buntings feeding on bird seed on boulders in car park.

Excellent views of redpoll, siskin, greater spotted woodpecker (M&F), long tailed tits, jays, greenfinch plus others on bird tables around back of Education Centre

Hawfinches have been showing well this week with sightings on Sat (9th), Sun, Monday and Tuesday in the northern parts of Forestganol between 8:30 and 11.00am. At least 7 definitely seen and may be up to 10. They are feeding high up in the Hornbeam.
