At Parc Slip a Cetti’s Warbler was seen and heard (call, not song) from the wader scrape hide.
At Ogmore Estuary a Barnacle Goose was with Canadas on Ploran Mawr. Also around was a Green Sandpiper, eight Goldeneye and the first returning Shelduck of the winter.
On the lodge this morning, variously with Grey Wagtail, Pied Wagtail, Robin and two Stonechats.
A Water Pipit was by Portobello Island this morning, favouring the Vale shoreline.
A Merlin landed on the rocks at the rivermouth car park, before flying off over the bay towards Porthcawl.
A Goshawk flew slowly west over the Odeon cinema around midday.
A Firecrest was in scrub near the walled garden this morning.
Still present today at Rhaslas Pond.
The highlight was a Firecrest, in and around the walled gardens. Chiffchaffs were particularly numerous; I must have seen over 30 in the vicinity. Also noted were Common Whitethroat, Blackcap, Goldcrest, Wheatear, Stonechat, Bullfinch, Green Woodpecker, Peregrine and Chough. House Martins seemed to outnumber Swallows, with Meadow Pipits also still passing overhead in numbers.

The Wryneck showed well a couple of times first thing this morning, but was ranging quite widely around the gorse scrub by the coastal path.
A flock of around 70 Yellow Wagtails was around Clawdd-y-mynach Farm this afternoon, otherwise fairly quiet.
The juvenile still present this evening.
The Wryneck showed a few times this afternoon from an area of dense scrub and saplings just up the slope from where Steve photographed it. Unfortunately the area is not easy to view and the bird is rather elusive. The location is roughly where the three Pants meet, grid ref SS 87851 75873.

Plenty of activity in the Pants this morning (stop sniggering at the back) including:
Redstart, Whinchat, Tree Pipit (17), Yellow Wagtail (2), Wheatear, Stonechat (8), Yellowhammer (12), Lesser Whitethroat (2), Common Whitethroat (30), Blackcap (12), Chiffchaff (8) and Willow Warbler (15).
Six Yellow Wagtails were amongst the cattle this afternoon. The only waders on the marsh were 18 Lapwings.
A report lifted from Twitter states that five Hawfinches were feeding on Rowan at Forest Farm, yesterday.
A Greenshank was at the south pools this morning, otherwise fairly quiet.

A juvenile Goshawk caught and devoured a Mallard at the south pools. Just before I arrived Alun saw a Greenshank fly in as if to land close to where the Goshawk was feeding, only to make a very hasty exit when it realised its mistake!
A brief foray between rain bands saw a Greenshank at the Watermill flood, three Little Egrets on Ploran Mawr and four Common Sandpipers on the estuary.
Three Crossbills flew south-west at Llanilid this morning, and four Common Sandpipers were on the main (studio) pool.
Later a Little Egret was at Ogmore Estuary and a female Peregrine was seen carrying prey over my (Bridgend) garden.
