9 purple sandpiper, 32 turnstone, ringed plover (no accurate count), 32 oystercatcher, 5 curlew, little egret, 4 shag and a Med gull on Sedger’s Bank

Great northern diver off the point actively foraging, 7 great crested grebe in the bay.

Scoter flock present, but distant and no count as a result.

An excellent year at Oxwich with almost 4,000 unique birds processed including large numbers of migrant warblers and finches.

Brambling, small flocks of fieldfare and a roost of c. 1,500 starlings on the marsh this morning.  Redpolls over and flocks of 30+ siskin around.

Starling roost is close to the hide.  The noise prior to the roost dispersing, and the sound when they do is a real experience

The last few days has seen large numbers of redwing moving through, our third firecrest of the autumn, and overhead passage of siskin and lesser redpoll.

Firecrest, 14 goldcrest, chiffchaff this morning.

Jack snipe ringed this morning (photo by Charlie Sargent below of bird squatting on release).  30-40 common snipe present.

20 redwing also ringed there.  Crest numbers lower than a week or so ago, but 11 goldcrest caught and ringed, taking the total to almost 120 individuals in the past two weeks.

Lesser redpoll present in small numbers (groups of 1-3) around the marsh, and small flocks of siskin also around.

Redpolls (8+) in with the siskins and more abundant goldfinches and greenfinches

The last few days has seen what may be the last reed warblers and willow warbler of the year, an influx of reed buntings and some meadow pipit passage

Passage of siskins noted for the first few hours of the morning.  Tree pipit in flight over marsh and whinchat with stonechats in bracken and willowherb.

Last night 5 white wagtails roosted in the marsh, along with 200 swallows and a few sand martins

Tree pipit 1 (3), 13 reed warbler, 5 sedge warbler, 20 blackcap, 6 willow warbler and visible overhead movement of siskin (west) on Sunday

Whinchat this morning
