Crumlyn bog

A red kite with about 200 herring and lesser black backs over the tip also seen 2 ravens 3 buzzards a pair of bullfinch with a juv female a whitethroat carrying food a blackcap still singing at nearby tir john pond mallard with 4 young 2 pairs of tufted ducks but no sign of breeding coot with young a little grebe and a singing sedge warbler 

Port talbot

While my better half went shopping in tesco I spent the time by the river afon the sand Martin colony was busy with adults and juvs on show also 6 pied wagtail 4 grey wagtail a dipper and a female goosander sleeping on the exposed rocks not concerned with the nearby traffic or people, better than shopping 

Crynant

Checked the small sand Martin colony by the mine museum at least 5 family parties involving about 30 birds also of note garden warblers spotted fly a male redstart green woodpecker willow warbler and cuckoo

Don’t know what happened to last post 

went to look for the possible purple heron this afternoon no luck other birds seen 5 goosander 4 female 1 male 2 curlew 6 shelduck 50+ herring gulls 40+ lesser b b gulls pairs of linnet goldfinch chaffinch pied wagtails singing blackcaps 1 grey lag and a kingfisher by the canal

5 goosander 4 female 1 male 4 Canada geese 6 grey lag geese the feral bar headed goose still with the grey lags 10 shelduck 2 cormorants 4 mallard 4 black headed gulls 20 lesser b b gulls 40 herring gull steady passage of swallows over the marsh 

40 plus pied wagtails roosting on tesco roof neath abbey 2 shelduck in the Brunel Dock 

Fenrod lake

Kumliens gull there at 2 15 for 5 minutes then flew off with the other gulls in flight all the time 

tir john pool port tenant a pair teal 2 pairs of tufteds a little grebe willow warbler and reed bunting

Called in to see the kumliens gull at 1 15 no sign so I went to the amenities tip it was sitting with other 

gulls on waste ground opposite the big sheds it was there for five minutes then flew back to the lake where I saw it again  to get there turn left out of the car park drive a short distance turn right into coronet road drive to the end then follow the tarmac path through the trees turn left the sheds are on your right there are lots of gulls and crows  after the rubbish 14 magpies there today 

Brunel Dock to baglan bay

An evening walk had 9 little egrets in the boat club trees , a great crested grebe in the river 300+ starlings flying west 600+ jackdaws behind the council yard 4 cormorants 1 heron 2 shelduck and a nice bonus an otter in the river by the paper factory
