Chiffchaff (lots) Cetti’s and Willow Warbler Blackcap, not had four Warblers in March before! No hirundines.

Roath Park Lake
Redwing 7 one caught by a Sparrowhawk but it broke free. Teal two pairs, never seen Teal here previously, Green Woodpecker 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker 1 Nuthatch 4 Songthrush 2 Lots of Gulls Herring Lesser Black Backs and Black-headed one ringed which I will submit to BTO.

Red Kite 1 Goshawk 1 Buzzard 2 Willow Tit 1 Nuthatch 2 No Siskins seem or heard but, a small group of |Crossbills were heard flying over.

Really good views of Crossbills 12 four males. Unfortunately the photos did not turn out so good. Also Raven 2 Buzzard 2 Goldcrest 1 Green Woodpecker 2 Jay 1
Black-headed Gull
On 3rd February we noticed a BHG with a colour ring. It turned out to be from Norway!

Alba Wagtail Roath Park lake 20th January 2016. Alba yarrellii or Alba alba what’s your 10p on? I think despite the Aa appearance it is probably yarrellii as the mantle has faint markings but, I would not bet too much on it!

Red Kite initially with Buzzard moved slowly north. Kingfisher 1 Lots and lots of Coal Tits. No warblers. Common Darter 6 including a pair in the process of ovipositing. MJ &JPP
