I did a cetacean survey on Stenna Europe and at 9.00 am this morning there were no black guillemots visible in Rosslare Harbour. Normally at this time of year we would expect a double figure count. Casualties of the storms?
I did a cetacean survey on Stenna Europe and at 9.00 am this morning there were no black guillemots visible in Rosslare Harbour. Normally at this time of year we would expect a double figure count. Casualties of the storms?

Carnsore Point, a few miles from Rosslare is very exposed to the South Westerly storms so perhaps they have just moved north into the shelter of the Irish sea. Further up the coast there are sizeable colonies – we saw 20-30 breeding pairs in Bangor and Glenarm last year. I wonder if they are low on numbers there now. If you hear why, let us know.
