Newton Point

A very productive 1/2 hour at high tide in the drizzle without leaving the road!

Brent goose db 1, purple sandpiper 9, sanderling 79, ringed plover 49, grey plover 6, turnstone 16, oystercatcher 22, dunlin 17 (probably more but counted after being disturbed) black-headed gull 38 and a med gull.

Ogmore and Kenfig

Ogmore 2 white-fronted geese opposite Ogmore Castle with the Canada geese.

Kenfig Pool 2 white-fronted  geese with the Canada geese on the water and subsequently on the fields. 1 short eared owl on the golf course seen four times. A dog walker had seen 2 together.

Are there 4 white-fronted geese locally or are the 2 very mobile I wonder.

There was a black tailed godwit, 10 goosander and 4 common sandpiper on the river at Portobello with 8 greylags.

A redstart was on the green lane from Ogmore to Norton Farm

In Pant Norton there was a lesser whitethroat, 4 common whitethroat good numbers of willow warbler and 2 chiff chaff

Porthcawl Dolphins

Not a bird sighting but this morning there was a pod of 10/12 common dolphin 3 1/2 miles out from Porthcawl heading east. I picked them up with my telescope and counted 3 plus a juvenile. I telephoned the skipper of a local fishing boat who was in the area and he was able to confirm that they were common and not bottlenose and that the count was 10/12.

Newton Point
