Need a bit of help on this one. 3 shots taken this morning of a single bird, which I think is a Sanderling. Anyone confirm?

Also seen, a single ringed plover and a couple of whimbrels in flight.

Hello Andy Looks like a transitional plumaged Sanderling to me. Later their face and upper breast become red. I have seen them a few times in this plumage and they can throw the one as we are more used to them in winter plumage.
Hope this helps Mike
Thanks Mike. That’s what was confusing me. It’s a first for me.

Agreed. Great shot Andy, excellent quality! We’ve had quite a few of those type of plumaged birds through at Kenfig Sands recently.

Mike
