Cosmeston

Adult Night Heron roosting in trees near reed bed in west lake. Seen in flight a couple  of times earlier and has just disappeared from view in trees at 9.25 photo to follow when I get back home

Best of the heavily cropped photos from this morning. Glad others caught up with it later!

Nice one Peter. We were all wondering where this had come from as it appeared on Birdguides and Twitter initially.
Why is it stuff turns up on my patch when I have other commitments! Doh! Hopefully it will roost again.

As the feed shows, Peter sent news via twitter very quickly and I should have been notified automatically. Not only would I ordinarily have received a notification for the mention but I also follow Peter personally. Neither alert worked for me this time unfortunately. Thank goodness the Bird News Services are more reliable.
I must take this opportunity to thank Peter for sending news promptly and apologise that I wasn’t quicker getting it and passing it on.
Apart from that, cracking find a real stunner.

Message for Peter. Do you have a current e-mail address Peter – I only have your museum one and not sure f that’s still active for you. Send me at johndw at ntlworld dot com. Aaron Jones, the ranger at Cossie wants to know if they cd put your 1st pic on the Vale Cossie web site, suitably acknowledged of course.
