Dave Glanville

A message from David Rich, GBC member. For those who knew Dave Glanville:
“Sad to report that Dave Glanville has passed away. He lived in Cardiff for a number of years before moving to Pembs.
I had the privilege of knowing Dave and birded with him when he was in Cardiff and after he moved to Pembs. The last couple of trips were to see the Pacific Loon in Pembs and the Long-billed Dowitcher
at Kidwelly. He was a lovely chap, full of humour and an excellent and enthusiastic birder. Will be sadly missed.

Sad indeed – Dave was the most amazing fellow to be with – we once twitched a Snowy Owl near Grimsby together – I laughed all the way. To those who can remember the club trip to Dumfries and Galloway will never forget what an enjoyable experience it was to be with him – fond memories

  2. Gutted too and shocked although I know he’d had heart problems going back 20 years or more.
I recall that trip too Smudge and remembering him holding court with a group of lasses in a pub in Newton Stewart; he’d convinced them that he was a Presbyterian Minister who’d travelled up from Cardiff to watch his horse race at Ayr the following day! Priceless!!
The world’s now a duller place without Dave sharing it with us.
