A male goosander 50+ Canada geese 150 black h gulls usual Pochards tufteds mallard moorhens coots and14 mute swan of interest was a coot with a leg ring b r x anyone know who is ringing coots..? At the nearby amenites tip 22 magpies est 300 herring gulls on the river tawe 3 female goosander
Hi tmtovey – if it was a white ring with black code then the coot is likely to be have been one of ours (Cardiff Ringers) ringed in Cosmeston lakes in 2011. Out of nine birds colour-ringed there we have had three indidividuals resighted from far afield – Leicestershire, Greater Manchester and another near Exeter. Despite appearances – coots do indeed move about.
