I have Robins feeding recently fledged youngsters in my garden at present. I believe that this is their third brood. Is this unusual?
Also of note in my garden today a White letter Hairstreak (garden first). I was astonished as the nearest Elms are a couple of miles away. Do they have other food plants?
Very nice Mr Rosney I have never seen WLH great garden tick. Mike
Robins usually have two broods and occasionally a third. The young of the latest brood have usually left the nest by the end of July. (A Field Guide to Monitoring Nests, James Ferguson-Lees et al). Looks as if you’re birds Alan are right at the later end of the spectrum 🙂
