Therin lies a problem Barry – I wasn’t able to check the rump. As it flew in it was head on to me – it didn’t move about much in the 10 minutes it was on the deck in the drizzle, and I only saw it briefly and failed to get it in focus as it called on departure. Worse still, having studied photographs of the Marazion bird in some detail, I haven’t yet found anything to exclude the possibility of the Lavernock bird having been a Hudsonian Whimbrel. I did notice it’s liking for seaweed in both sets of photographs.
Maybe I can relocate it tomorrow 🙂

I have just added another grainy shot which is the nearest I have to a rear view – it is in the gallery but I can’t see how to add it here.
