Nice afternoon birding at Cosmeston with nice company too. 2 Firecrest and several Goldcrest. Fieldfare and Redwing in E Paddock but no sign of Redpoll. Reed warbler by the hide. More Goldcrest, Chiffchaff from the 1st platform south of the bridge. A Kingfisher was flying around W lake landing at several points, on the lake was several Greylags, Cetti heard in reed bed opposite hide.
Della – did you really mean Reed Warbler? It’s far too early for those to have arrived yet. If it was flitting around in the reeds by the hide it would have been a Chiffchaff – they do do this, and indeed I was one doing just that the day before.
Hi John, it was a lovely colour brown , and was much longer and slender than the Chiffchaffs, tail was longer too. It was at the very end of the reed bed south of the hide. Might have been mistaken, either way, it was a good afternoon of birding!!
