Cardiff Bay Barrage this morning. There were 3 Goosander by the sails [2m 1f] the female being the one from last yr with the damaged right wing [see photo]. Also the Long-tailed Duck was looking good in the bright sunlight.
It was wonderful to see your photos of this female goosander, John. I saw here near Blackweir back in March (https://earthstarblog.wordpress.com/tag/goosander/) and didn’t think she could survive, so it was particularly good to see that she has and is thriving! 🙂
Thanks Annie. I guess as they don’t do a lot of long distance flying she can survive. Presumbaly she can still dive enough to catch fish, and is happy enough living along the Taff.

I was more concerned that she might fall victim to the local mink (s) so was delighted to see her in your photos.
