Brilliant views of a Bittern from the Wader Pool hide.The bird was in front of the hide for nearly two hours.12h15-14h10
Slimbridge
Out of county.Great excitement in the Zeiss hide today when a Grey Heron caught a large Water Vole no more than 20 metres away! After a short struggle the heron gave up and dropped the vole which made good its escape.
Hendre Lake
An eventful half-hour,16h00-16h30.10-Little Egrets in to the roost,then when nearly dark a Bittern flew around the car park area before flying away north-east.Then ten minutes later whilst leaving a Bittern again was over the car park area and off towards Marshfield.One bird or two?

Only bird of note this morning was a Swallow,a 1st.year bird.Almost certainly the bird previously reported in the area.
