13-Redshanks on south side of the island.To my knowledge an unusual sighting for this location. 16h00 jan.14th.

Up to 40-Siskins,maybe more,in a mixed fragmented flock also containing Goldfinches.

18-Little Egrets in two fields alongside the business park.8h45-9h30

Snipe numbers at Hendre Lake are up to 30 today.Also 3-Water Rails and a redhead Goosander.15h00-15h30

Snipe numbers building up as winter approaches.13-Snipe on the island this morning,also a flock of 50+ Fieldfares flew over.11h00

The Black Necked Grebe showing well today at Prospect Place area.11h30-12h00

A flock of 100 or more Goldfinches,almost all were juveniles,in the fields at south side of lake.Also there were several juv. Willow Warblers and a Garden Warbler.10h30

Yesterday,july 4th. the Great Crested Grebes eggs finally hatched.At least two juvs. on parents back,could be three.

A family party of at least ten juveniles this evening in the trees alongside the railway line. Sorry,forgot to say Long Tailed Tits.

A pair of Mute Swans have eight cygnets.

1-Barn Owl hunting along the reen at eastern end of the lake.20h10

1-Swift amongst Hirundine today,also 1-(comic) Tern.Too windy for further ID.10H30-11H30

1-Swallow,1-House Martin,2-Sand Martins and a Chiffchaff.10h30-11h15

30+ Fieldfares on the open ground towards dragonfly pond,also several Redwings with them.

6-Sand Martins over west lake and a Chiffchaff in same area.

Another 6-Sand Martins over a sheltered spot at the east end of the east lake.As I saw these Martins when returning to the car park,they were possibly the same birds. 10h15-11h50

1m-Wheatear 400yds. west of the power station.13h00

11-Snipe from the bigger hide,at the weir 1-Dipper with nesting material,4-Goosanders 2m+2f above the weir.Also 4-Mallards 2m+2f just above the weir were feeding in a way I’ve never seen before in dabbling ducks.They were all diving continuously whilst I was there.I have only seen Mallards dive to escape danger,but not this time,they were feeding,very strange.11h00-12h00

1-Brambling in my garden this morning.

1-ad-Med. Gull with BHGulls on concrete jetty up river at rowing club jetty.It had a wide red ring with numbers and/or letters on its right leg which I couldn’t read.Also it had a narrow silver coloured ring on its left leg.Should have had my scope,with hindsight!!

A male Blackcap made a brief appearance in my garden this morning.Pity it didn’t come whilst doing my rspb birdwatch!!
