34-Snipe on the island this afternoon,also 1m-Goosander,an unusual sighting for this location.

A minimum of 60-Snipe on south side of the island.Numbers are increasing with every visit.Also 1-Water Rail and a Kingfisher.10h30-11h00

27-Little Egrets flew from the island roost at first light.

A total of eight Little Egrets flew from the island roost at first light,This follows a total of eleven on nov.16.

Both numbers are well down on recent years.Perhaps numbers will increase as we go into winter.

A flock of 50+ Goldfinches,nearly all juveniles,1-Spotted Flycatcher,2-Blackcaps m+f, 1-Whitethroat.12h00-12h45

A minimum of 9 and possibly as many as 14-Mistle Thrushes at the dragonfly pond at Forest Farm.Many of these were juveniles,but surely not all one family.

on a previous visit I noted a pair of Coots with 6 juveniles.Well,tonight there was a pair of Coots with 8,yes 8 juveniles! This could be some sort of record,possibly.The juvs. were 3/4 the way to adult size.I have several photos of the family.

Mute Swans with 4-cygnets,1 pair of Coots with 6 fully grown juvs. Another pair of Coots with 3 large juvs. Also two pairs of Great Crested Grebes each with two adult sized juvs.

150 to 200, maybe more, Swifts over Cardiff Bay this afternoon.

A very productive walk along the river produced several Willow Warblers and Chiffchaffs,a singing Blackcap.1-Kingfisher.m+f-Goosanders and the star bird a trilling Wood Warbler.13h00-14h15

Hendre-20 to 25-Sand Martins,Im-Blackcap,Cetti’s and Chiffchaff singing.

Lamby-10 to 15-Sand Martins.
