Cetti’s Warbler singing on southern edge of park…first time I’ve heard one this far up river and a first for what is the Canton locality!

Grangemoor Park- single Lesser Whitethroat, Cetti’s Warbler and Reed Warbler singing.
Sanatorium Park- two regular Whitethroats (one nearer the new school) where numbers have been reducing over the years.
Ely Trail
Two Cetti’s singing a half a mile apart between Penarth Road and Leckwith Hill.
Sanatorium Park, Canton
2 Little Egrets feeding at floodwater on field for thirty minutes. One Whitethroat singing.
Michaelston-le-pit
Lesser Whitethroat singing; Little Owl on roadside–possibly injured.
Caerau, Skylark singing as usual.
Sanatorium Park/Trelai Park
2 singing Whitethroats Sanatorium Park and another over the river in Trelai Park. 4 Canada Geese on floodwater still not drained away from fields.
Leckwith Hill, 1 Cetti’s Warbler singing; another singing half a mile down river towards Penarth Road.
Dunnock bred and young flown in Canton garden.

Whitethroat: two singing males some distance apart in a former ideal habitat that has been shrinking over the last few years. Mute Swan: one on floodwater.

Usual Cetti’s singing. Skylark singing. Generally quiet today here and along Ely Trail.

Lesser Whitethroat singing at the top of Leckwith Hill.
Skylark singing, Caerau. Greenfinches singing in several localities Cardiff west and Vale- more abundant than in recent years.

2 singing Whitethroats. On floodwater, 2 Mute Swans– other than in flight it’s the first time in thirty five years I’ve seen them in this locality!

Whitethroat singing; Lesser Whitethroat singing just outside northern edge; Sedge Warbler singing just outside boundary. Ely Trail- Cetti’s Warbler singing in reed beds closer towards Leckwith Hill. Sanatorium Park, Whitethroat singing.

Lesser Whitethroat singing between Leckwith Hill and Penarth Road along the trail. Two Cetti’s Warblers (each over half a mile apart) singing.

Whitethroat singing; two Cetti’s Warblers singing; single Swallow; 4 Blackcaps.
Canton/Ely River trail
Coal Tits displaying in my garden in Canton and Blackcap singing. Blackcaps well distributed throughout locality and into the Vale. Cetti’s Warbler singing daily near Penarth Road River Bridge (on trail towards Leckwith).
