Otter at Ogmore
As reported there was an Otter on the river feeding below Portobella . It spent most of it’s time feeding near the shingle bank. About 12:00pm it moved upstream slowly, fishing as it went. It did not take much notice of people or dogs on the bank. It finally left the river at about 1:30 opposite the boat launch way just downstream from Portobella. It headed across open ground towards the small conifer plantation.

Non-bird sighting – Jersey Tiger Moth
Spotted at Sully Bowls Club Green at 2:30p.m. on Saturday 4 August. Only an iphone image I’m afraid.
‘Tailed’ Ducks
Caught up with the Long-Tailed Duck this afternoon (2:00p.m.) at a very cold and windy Cardiff Bay. It seemed to favour the area near the ferry jetty east of the ‘Sails’, diving with four dabbling mallards.
Left and drove to a sunny Roath Park to catch great views of the female Pintail on the east shore (about 3:15 p.m.). Other ducks of note 6 Shoveller, a distant Gadwall and 3 Teal. A juvenile Little Egret was sunning itself on a perch above the Cormorant roost.
Baird’s Sandpiper at Kenfig
BS strutting out in the sun at 2:30 this afternoon. A very accommodating bird.
