Overton / Longhole Cliff

A grasshopper warbler reeling from scrub in the valley at Longhole this morning.
A pair of bullfinch holding territory in dense scrub at the top of the valley for the second year running.
Fulmar, the usual sparrowhawks, plenty of chiffchaffs and the odd willow warbler, plus a swallow over.

Craig Cerrig Gleisiad

Ring Ouzel seen and another (possibly the same bird) singing at Craig Cerrig Gleisiad (Powys) early afternoon today. The bird seen was at the top of the scree slope above the moraine (i.e. just keep walking up until you have the scree slope in front of you). The singing came from +/- 30m left of the scree slope.

There seems to be quite a variety of Ring Ouzel songs on Xeno Canto. The nearest I could find to today’s singer is http://www.xeno-canto.org/132624

Also there several Raven, lots of Wrens and Meadow Pipits, and a Stonechat.

Bute Park

Furthermore to the goosander reported yesterday, today a male and female were fishing on the Taff just up from the entrance by the start of Cowbridge Road East. Spring was very much in the air despite the rain showers, with several willow warblers and chiffchaffs singing and a couple of blackcaps in the trees just past the walled garden and cafe.
