4 female goosanders on the river afon by the entrance to the docks also there 10 mallards 7 mute swan 2 oyster catchers and a few sand martins

3 white wagtails and a rock pipit on the outer rocks this morning.

Ad Yellow-legged Gull on E lake this morning and 2 Cetti’s singing near the cafe. Plenty of Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs singing.

Several Willow Warblers and Blackcaps finally back in and around Hamadryad Park.In CBWR a Cetti’s has been showing quite well for the last week or so in the small reedbed in front of St.David’s Hotel.
Merthyr Mawr
Grasshopper Warbler reeling at the Newton end and 25 Sand Martin and a Swallow over the slacks.
Overton / Longhole Cliff
A grasshopper warbler reeling from scrub in the valley at Longhole this morning.
A pair of bullfinch holding territory in dense scrub at the top of the valley for the second year running.
Fulmar, the usual sparrowhawks, plenty of chiffchaffs and the odd willow warbler, plus a swallow over.
Craig Cerrig Gleisiad
Ring Ouzel seen and another (possibly the same bird) singing at Craig Cerrig Gleisiad (Powys) early afternoon today.The bird seen was at the top of the scree slope above the moraine (i.e. just keep walking up until you have the scree slope in front of you). The singing came from +/- 30m left of the scree slope.
There seems to be quite a variety of Ring Ouzel songs on Xeno Canto. The nearest I could find to today’s singer is http://www.xeno-canto.org/132624
Also there several Raven, lots of Wrens and Meadow Pipits, and a Stonechat.

2nd winter Glaucous gull flew N over the reserve towards Mynydd Baeden this afternoon.
Bute Park
Furthermore to the goosander reported yesterday, today a male and female were fishing on the Taff just up from the entrance by the start of Cowbridge Road East. Spring was very much in the air despite the rain showers, with several willow warblers and chiffchaffs singing and a couple of blackcaps in the trees just past the walled garden and cafe.

A female Goosander was on the River Taff opposite the Millennium Stadium on Monday evening about 6.30.
Cardiff Bay
c.200 Sand Martin and 4 Swallows over the Bay at about 18:00 but almost all disappeared the moment the cloud broke up and the sun came out. Few Black-headed Gulls but still one 1st year Little Gull and 1 1st year Med Gull.
Bridgend Town Centre
An Osprey drifted NW low overhead over La Strada Restaurant during a break in the rain. The bird was seen from the bottom of Newcastle Hill before dropping out of sight behind the small Tesco’s as it headed towards the M4.
Cosmeston
9:30 – 11:30 No hirundines. GCG pair nest building on W lake, Mistle Thrush carrying food nr dragonfly pond. Willow Warbler and several Chiffchaff and Blackcap singing, o/w pretty quiet.
Fenrod lake
Kumliens gull there at 2 15 for 5 minutes then flew off with the other gulls in flight all the time

Forest Farm
Willow warbler singing in the trees by the canal, and lots of chiffies now. Main highlight was coming across where a pair of nuthatch appear to be nesting.
Cardiff Bay
1 poss 2 Swallows in amongst c.100 Sand Martins over the bay early eve. Rock Pipit on the barrage.
