  1. Excellent count – only 9 other UK sites average higher counts than this (NB GB threshold for national importance is 160, so well in excess of that). Also the presence of Black-wits there this winter suggests the gradual shift in sediments is making the area more productive? Be interesting to see if these birds stick around…

    1. there seems to be a good feeding area of muddy sediment midway along the sands,which forms a small,sloping bay.This tends to congregate whatever wader sp. are around.Had roughly the same no.of black-wits around 3 weeks ago.As for the sanderling,whether they came from Cefn Sidan area(?),or even Swansea bay area?? , who knows?Seems to be a lot of cockle\muscle harvesting going on.Increased food due to damaged molluscs??
