I rarely go birding that far west of Cardiff, so 50+ Med Gulls in Bracelet Bay last Friday (17th) was impressive. The largest number I have seen in the UK.

Wow that’s impressive.. 50 med gulls.. Been watching here regularly for several years but never seen more than low 20’s at any one time.. I’d better get my binoculars serviced! 😎

That was in the morning and nearly all of them were adults. After going to Rhossilli and Oxwich, we were back there late afternoon. There were 6 or 7 on the grass next to our car in the car park just to the west of the bay. A few were ringed but unable to read the digits as they always seemed to be on the wrong side to us! Also birds seen as I walked out on the pier to look at the Kittiwake nests. I’m used to going through the loads of Black-Headed Gulls at Cardiff Bay to try and find 1 or 2, so was very impressed that morning to find B H Gulls in the minority!
