Hi Steve, I do a BTO Breeding Birds Survey in Canton ST1576 – first visit for 2016 due in a few days. And I am in Canton ever so often, at my father’s house, or shopping, eating and drinking, visiting Chapter (about to go there today). I’m watching the birds on the southern edge of Canton decrease notably as development goes on e.g. Sanitorimum Road. Out of interest. could you just tell me where you live, approximately if you prefer e.g. street or sub-area?
I live on Lansdowne Road Paul..opposite St Lukes Church. I have just done a walk around what I see is “your BBS” this afternoon (19 species); I have done a lot of birding around the Sanatorium Fields area over the last thirty five years and am usually there at least four days a week at dawn! My BBS isn’t as good as yours (!) being just to the east and taking in the Leckwith area, I do my first one towards the end of April.
