Skylark 6 over; Meadow Pipit trickle (40) over; Green and Great Sp Pecker; Chiffchaff 6; Canada Goose 22 down river; Sparrowhawk female; Whinchat 2. No hirundines at all.

Female Redstart; Yellow Wagtail over; Tree Pipit (3 over); Chiffchaff 12; Blackcap and Whitethroat. Few Meadow Pipits, Swallow, House Martin south.

Garden Warbler still singing in Canton; Reed Warber singing in Grangemoor Park plus Skylark as usual.

Garden Warbler singing well at dawn, Ely Trail, Canton (off Lansdowne Gardens), Reed Bunting singing, Skylark singing at Grangemoor Park. Small total of four Common Whitethroats.

Two pairs of Greater Spotted Woodpeckers feeding young. Skylark singing in adjoining fields.

One singing early morning in fields off Lansdowne Gardens. Five Blackcaps, just two Common Whitethroats but no Lesser Whitethroats again, where, until a couple of years ago the species was  “traditional” throughout April and May, probably breeding.

One present and singing for a couple of hours this afternoon in a suburban garden a quarter mile from nearest water/river.

Lesser Whitethroat obviously in residence-singing again. Skylark singing. Little else.
