River Taff nr. Millenium Stadium
A Little Egret was fishing under the bridge by Castle Street on my way to work this morning, first I’ve seen there.
CBWR
Lesser Scaup and a pair of Kingfishers present this pm. After many aborted attempts, I finally arrived at a good guessimate of c.250 Canada Geese; otherwise impossible to count precisely because they are mainly in one group, constantly intermingling.
Glyn-neath
Yesterday on the ridge above Morfa Glas, 70 Golden Plovers were roosting on disturbed ground, a Peregrine keeping them on their toes. Also 2 Jack Snipe along with 9 Common Snipe on a patch boggy ground.
Snow Bunting Ogmore
For those who requested to know where the bird was seen. It was 100m from the car park from the gate that leads to the coastal path. It flew around calling and landed on three or four occasions. I tried to photograph of it but the shot is out of focus. Mark Hebden and I tried to relocate the bird in the afternoon with no luck. Lots of dogs about. Good luck Mike

Bittern reported today. Seen several times by birders who put in several hours effort watching from the southern hide. Kingfisher and water rail seen too.

Mumbles Hill etc
A brambling over the Mumbles Cricket Ground this morning.
6+ chiffchaff between the sycamores at the top of Plunch Lane and the top of Mumbles Hill.
3+ blackcap. An apparent increase in blackbird and song thrush on the top

During a tawny owl / fox survey tonight, just 4 redwings called in 100 minutes of timed counts (= 2.4 per hour). Also, 6 tawny owls across 4 sites and no foxes!
Earlier, at Lisvane: 1 GBB gull among the lessers, 4 common gulls over heading S (first of the autumn here for me), 1 kingfisher, 15 little grebes, 8 GC grebes, 2 mute swans, 2 Canadas, 42 tufties, 5 coots and 20 mallards.
Llanishen: 1 jack snipe again watched feeding at dusk, 2 common snipe, 29 teal, 26 mallard and 1 little grebe.
Neath Salt marsh & Crymlyn Burrows
2 Bar-headed Geese with 170 Canada Geese on the salt marsh, this morning. Also here Starling (c200) and Linnet (c60)

Lesser Scaup, Pochard, 3 Tufties and a Kingfisher at CBWR this am. 2 GBB Gulls on the Pierhead pontoons. The Goldeneye is back at Prospect Place with 46 Tufties.

Llanishen Reservoir
A Jack snipe was observed foraging close to a single common snipe at dusk, allowing a direct comparison of size, pattern and foraging action. Also, 24 teal, 82 mallard, 2 Canadas and 4 redwings. The mute swans have departed from the south pool.

A very vocal flock of 22 Crossbills flew east and 150+ Skylarks heading west this morning.
