Dunraven Bay
Another Robin / Black Redstart combination. This time at the base of the cliffs to the right of the slipway, Sunday afternoon. Also male Kestrel flying along cliffs.
Colhugh valley and Llantwit beach, Saturday,23 Nov. – high tide.
1430 – 1530. Grey Wagtail under the bridge near Llantwit. Single Bullfinch heard snd glimpsed half way down valley. In the vicinity of the beach toilet block immature Black Redstart along with a Robin friend. Also on the beach slabs a pair of Stonechats, Rock Pipit, 2 Wrens and a few Pied Wagtails.
Colhugh valley between bridge at Llantwit Major and coast. 1100 – 1145.
Cetti’s Warbler calling from brambles just to the west of the bridge. 2 pairs of Bullfinch calling from wooded hill to west of valley. Pair of Stonechats alongside stream quarter of a mile inland.
Ogmore valley and river
Sunday afternoon – about half a mile inland from the estuary – Pair of Peregrines tussling over the hillside. 7 female Goosanders apparently hunting in a pack. 2 pairs of Goldeneye also diving frequently.
Ogmore and Ewenny valley
First Song Thrush for me for 3 months from Ogmore riverside footpath. 4 Lapwings and Heron seen from Watermill Pub. Tues 22nd Oct afternoon.
Coast path LLantwit to St Donats Oct 12th afternoon
Green Woodpecker heard near St Donats, also Peregrine flying west. Back nearer to Llantwit, 6 or so Swallows also flying west. Have not seen the regular lone Wheatear there for a few days now. Met a couple who had seen “Alpine Crows” with red beaks near to Nash Point last year.
Llantwit coast path towards East,Thursday am 3rd October
1 female Wheatear, 1 Peregrine, 2 Kestrels, 1 Sparrowhawk, 1 Fulmar. 50 or so Swallows heading East
Colhugh brook
Kingfisher flew downstream under Llantwit bridge 1700 hrs. Sept.27th. Also female Stonechat edge of stream not far from the cafe.

Tuesday 17 Sept evening – 2 male and 1 female Wheatears,1 male and 3 female Stonechats.
Wheatears Galore take 2
At least nine wheatears between Boverton and Seawatch Centre – Thursday mid-afternoon. Andrew Lewis.

Colhugh woods and stream
1400-1630, 06 August. Male Bullfinch and 2 Whitethroat in woods. Male Stonechat bathing in stream with female in vicinity- also 4/5 Goldfinches and 4/5 Linnets drinking. Andrew Lewis
August 5th,1230-1530 Coast path between Llantwit Major and Nash Point. Peregrine flying, Female Wheatear, Willow warbler, Blackcap.
Drinking from the Colhugh as viewed from the cafe seats :- 6 Greenfinches and a Yellowhammer in a huddle, 1 Pied Wagtail, 4 Goldfinches, 3 Carrion Crows.
