Llanishen Reservoir, Roath
At Llanishen, a singing reed bunting and a hybrid Canada-Greylag goose among the regulars this evening. Water levels still rising. At Roath Park Lake, a male sparrowhawk was mobbed in flight by a lesser black-backed gull -I’ve not seen that before!

Just had the rather bizarre sight of a Fulmar flying past from my lounge window!

Red Kite over Cardiff
What was probably the same red kite as seen by Lol at Cosmeston (see previous post) came over Cathays (N Cardiff) at 11:50 and drifted west, enthusiastically escorted by the local gull population! The kite was in quite heavy wing moult.
Cosmeston
Red Kite went through about 12:30 with a Peregrine close behind – even though they were in the binoculars at the same time I don’t think they were actually interacting 🙂 – on the negative side – I also had fairly close views of what I think was a MINK. Never seen one before but was very dark (if not black) swimming in water close to bank and looked to be about 18 inches long (including tail).
Sully Beach
Need a bit of help on this one. 3 shots taken this morning of a single bird, which I think is a Sanderling. Anyone confirm?

Also seen, a single ringed plover and a couple of whimbrels in flight.
