Upper Killay
25+ redwing over Upper Killay at 8 am. Lots of tawny owl calls in Clyne Valley last night.
Swansea
Redwings flying in over Sketty at 10.30 this evening; Tawny Owl calling in Singleton Park.
Baglan pool and brunell docks
11 redwings over the pool late afternoon quiet otherwise 1 mute swan 1 coot 2 bullfinch 1 chaffinch 1 buzzard usuall gulls and crows
18 redshank in the dock 18 mallard on the river 8 little egrets and 4 herons at the boat club 10 curlew down river
Roath Park Lake
The shoveller flock here is now 15-strong, with 9 teal and a wigeon.
CBWR
Single Shoveler and Wigeon; 2 Teal and 2/3 Stonechat.
Ogmore
An interesting – and very late – Willow Warbler was by Ogmore sewage works this morning, features possibly suggesting a ‘Northern’ bird.
Redwing
30 over Canton flying north.
Penarth Road and Canton
Penarth Road, Ely River Bridge 3 Redwings a.m. Canton, 15 Redwings over. Chiffchaff at three sites, one singing.
Lavernock
Reserve: 20 Goldfinch, 2 Jay, Linnet 200 [in Rowlands Well stubble field], Red Kite circling distantly [prob over Cosmeston], Redwing 1 f/o, 1 Kestrel, 2 Stonechat by the sea watch shelter [first I’ve seen on the reserve for ages], and Speckled Woods and war was prob a fem Migrant Hawker;
Lavernock Pt: 2 Sprawk [1f 1m], 6 Buzzard, 1 Kestrel, 4 Sky Lark, 2 Chiffchaff by the church, 50 Linnet, 4 Chaffinch, 2 Mipit f/o, 3 Long-t Tit, Swallows and a House Martin.

Yellow browed warbler reported again this morning just S of the reserve centre building.
Brunel dock Briton ferry
8 little egrets and 4 herons by the boat club usual roost at dusk
Kenfig
Up to two yellow-browed warblers remained in the copse to the south side of the reserve centre all day. Some of us were lucky and got pretty good views but for others the birds were frustratingly illusive. A bird was still calling as I left around 5pm. A group of crossbills flew over in the gloom at 8.30am and two wheatears followed me round while I was working in the tractor west of the pool.
Forest Farm
Red Kite initially with Buzzard moved slowly north. Kingfisher 1 Lots and lots of Coal Tits. No warblers. Common Darter 6 including a pair in the process of ovipositing. MJ &JPP
Pennard Valley
Very late reeling grasshopper warbler this morning…
Crumlyn burrows
A 2 hour bush bash hoping for a y b w or better but very quiet just 12 goldfinch 2 chaffinch 2 stonechat wren dunnock robin blackbird 2 buzzards and g s woodpecker a quick look around the water treatment works by Swansea docks again very quiet with a few goldfinch chaffinch linnet blue tit and a kingfisher
First Redwing for us in Bridgend
A Redwing flew over our garden early morning whilst we were opening our moth trap – it headed south-east, calling – our first of the season. Also passing through were several Siskin and Mipits plus 6 Goldfinch.


went to kenfig pool about 4 – 6pm didnt see much other than a snipe at the front of the south hide of the pool first time for me to see a snipe and take a photo of one. there was only 1 there and only viewed once before going back into the reeds.
