Enjoyable walk from Cwm Ivy to Whiteford Point today. 61 species seen with selected highlights as follows:
Slavonian Grebe; G N Diver; R B Merganser (1 male); Eider (41); DB Brent Goose (302); Grey Plover (58); Black T Godwit (3); Sanderling (4); Turnstone (38); Cormorant (61); Chiffchaff and Redwing (21).

Gower sat/ sun
Had a walk out to Whiteford point Sat to catch high water. Approx 150 Dunlin, 80 sanderling , 35 ringed plover, 75 turnstone, 7 grey plover. Out on the water was fairly quiet, 1 common scoter and 1 juv goldeneye with 26 eider. Out by the hide, approx 80 linnet and 25 skylark feeding on the salt marsh
Rhossili today was again quiet out in the bay, but fair numbers in the fields. Approx. 75 skylark, 25 meadow pipit, 8 house sparrow, 4 yellowhammer, 7 reed bunting, 8 stonechat.
Approx 500 knot were off Daltons point along with smaller no.s of regular species

Sker Point
per Jeff Curtis: 2 great northern divers and 2 common scoters on sea. Purple sandpiper, little egret, kingfisher and grey heron on rocks.
GBC indoor meeting Tues 2nd
There’s an indoor meeting at Kenfig on Tuesday – Richard Smith is giving an illustrated talk on a trip to central India and Sri Lanka. Expect exc quality digital photos of the wildlife. 7:45 p.m.
Sandy Bay, Porthcawl
A kittiwake was feeding on discarded bait from the boat while fishing in the bay. A diver species flew up channel.
Craig Cerrig Gleisiad
Raven 2 Red Kite 3 Buzzard 4 Stonechat 1 Green Woodpecker 1 biggest surprise was a Peacock Butterfly at 1000f above sea level in November just!
Cwm kenfig (valley leading up from pen y bryn to mynydd margam)
At least 10 brambling there among a large chaffinch flock feeding on beech mast there.

6 Black Redstarts were seen today at Penarth marina, and at least 10 Hawfinches near Tongwynlais.
Cardiff Bay
No sign of BN Grebe this morning around Grangetown fly-over (Butetown Link Road A4232).
Mumbles Pier etc
Red-throated diver off the pier (distant). 8 turnstone and 6 redshank roosting.
22 Med gulls at Bracelet.
Ogmore (Portobello) and Bendrick Rock
At Portobello this afternoon 2 Adult Mediterranean Gulls, 7 Goldeneye, 6 Goosander, 2 Turnstone, 2 Redshank and a Great Black-backed Gull.
At Bendrick Rock yesterday morning approaching high tide, 6 Turnstone, 1 Curlew, 8 Oystercatcher, 2 Shelduck and a Grey Heron.
Cardiff Bay
BN Grebe found by Paul Denning in Ely river-mouth, and flushed by boat, last seen off Cardiff Bay Yacht Club heading NW towards Grangetown fly-over.
Cardiff Bay
Black-necked Grebe in Cardiff bay near Penarth Marina. Also there, at least five possibly six Black Redstarts including two males.
Kenfig Pool
A very showy Firecrest was near the North Pool Hide this morning along with three Chiffchaffs and five Bullfinches. An adult Med Gull was with eight Common Gulls and four Goldeneye on the pool were the first I have seen this autumn. A Redshank remains on the East Pool Shore.
Cardiff Bay
5 Black Redstart (1 ad.m. and 4 fem/imm.types) all seen together at the same time. With Cliff Woodhead and Phil Humphries. That makes at least 9 BR seen in Penarth Marina and Roath Lock in just over 3 weeks!
Sker
Two purple sandpipers were at Pink Bay this morning. The eider seen on Monday was still at Sker point at high tide. On the footpath from Pink Bay to Sker Court a barn swallow perching on the fence was a nice surprise.
