At nearby amenities tip were 52 herring gulls and 25 magpies

Roath Park Lake: water levels are currently very low to allow cleaning/dredging -exposing lots of mud and water weed. 1F shoveller and a pair of teal today.
Fox & owl survey: 1 fox and 7 tawny owls across 3 sites. Just 2 redwing calls in 60 minutes of timed counts.
Southerndown
Per David Smith by e-mail: Black Redstart at Southerndown “It moved around the car park walls, the top of the storm beach and the roof of the lodge”. This was at the carpark by Dunraven .

I must have just missed you Lol. I came after a quick walk along Lavernock. Not much there except a Goldcrest and Chiffchaff. There was also a pair of Gadwall on W lake at Cossie [still present from Sat]. I heard the Beardie and as I stood there a young male Sprawk shot by and had a go at a Chaffinch then sat in a tree near the cafe. 1 Common Gull on E lake. I didn’t venture anywhere muddy [e.g. the paddock] due to footwear.

Bearded Tit called as I walked along the boardwalk – checked to make sure no-one was playing a tape 😉 Turtle Dove in usual paddock above the West Lake but very near to the the fence just above the lake. Only one Pochard today.
Forest of Dean
from Gwent OS web site per Roo Perkins – flock of 15 Two-barred Crossbill between Speech house and Crabtree Hill in the FoD. I’ve only ever seen 1 in the UK, in Kent, and it took me 5 visits to nail that! 🙂

Lisvane Reservoir
A small influx of pochard over the last week; 13 present this morning, with 17 little grebes, 1 kingfisher and the usual regulars. No sign of the recent green sandpiper. Other bits and pieces over the last week included a red admiral at Llanishen Station on the 12th and a late chiffchaff briefly in my garden (Llanishen) on the 14th.
Pwll Du to Oxwich
710 Common Scoter in Oxwich Bay. Distant, and best views from the eastern end (Shire Combe west of Southgate) today. Spent an hour scanning through them, but too far away to be confident no other scoter species present.
Pwll Du: 2 Med gulls, razorbill, 2 shag
Pobbles to the Oxwich Bay Hotel: 423 common gull, 29 black-headed gull, 14 Med gull. Group of 9 female teal on sea. 2 GC Grebe.
Oxwich Marsh: 27 gadwall, 13 greylag geese etc
Chough at High Tor, Deep Slade and Shire Combe (all Southgate area).

Yesterday: 8 Shoveller, 4 Gadwall on the West Lake, Marsh Tit in Cogan Wood.
Today: Bearded Tit and Female Pintail on West Lake. Couldn’t see the Turtle Dove.

An immature black redstart was perched on the second stile heading west from the point this morning.

Found this morning on the 16th Fairway.. Pennard GC.. Relocated this afternoon in the same place..

The Turtle Dove was seen this a.m. by Jeff Curtis and Matt & Ceri Binding nr the dragonfly pond, the only place I didn’t look! On W lake, 120+ Tufted Duck, 12 Pochard, 2 Gadwall, 3 GCG, and 4 Cormorant and a Common Gull on the posts. 20+ Redwing flying over, 1 Green ‘Pecker in the Snipe enclosure. Plenty of birds at the dragon tree but no MarshTit.
